On November 18, Town Finance Director Melissa Zawadzki and Town Manager Paul Bockelman presented an up-to-date plan for financing the four major capital projects in town, including the Jones Library Renovation & Expansion. Following the blueprint created by previous Finance Directors Sandy Pooler and Sean Mangano, the Town is on track to complete the new elementary school, DPW facilities, and South Amherst fire station in addition to the library. Only the elementary school requires a tax override, which 82% of voters in May 2023 approved. The other projects will be paid for out of the capital budget, with state grants and a robust capital campaign supporting the Jones Library.
