At their June 6 Board meeting, the MA Board of Library Commissioners voted unanimously to extend the Jones Library contract through December 31, 2024, allowing time to re-bid the project.
In addition to Library Director Sharon Sharry, Rep Mindy Domb and Town Council President Lynn Griesemer addressed the Commission, asking for the extension. Public comment included both project supporters and opponents. MBLC staff person Andrea Bono-Bunker shared details about other libraries facing the same market forces we are. She gave examples of others who have rebid with good results. In their discussion, Commissioners emphasized that fulfilling the library's mission through programs and services is their priority.
